CORRIERE DEL TRENTINO

Interview with ANNAMARIA GELMI

Annamaria Gelmi will be among the artists exhibiting at the gallery’s next exhibition, from Dec. 5, 2023 to Jan. 13, 2024, a group show themed together with other artists, “ORTHOGONAL LANDSCAPE“. In this interview, the artist tells a little about herself and her art.

“I started with wood cutouts applied on wood. Then I switched to plexigas and acetate, then to Japanese paper on canvas. The common thread is architecture as memory (of antiquity, what we have left is the perimeter) and the environment as an idea. In addition to paintings, I devote myself to installations (I don’t call them sculptures): before making them, I examine the space in which they will be placed, a space that thanks to the work must be enhanced or take on another perspective. However, my line is minimalist, in the sense that I aim for the essential.”
