Silvia Mei is an Italian painter born in Cagliari, Sardinia in 1985. She is known for her large scale paintings which show the anthropomorphic figures placed in a natural setting. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari in 2009, she moved to Milan to attend the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, where she earned her BA in painting in 2012.

Combining different styles and techniques, Silvia focuses on the theme of nature in her work. Thoughts and fears, anxieties and feelings, as well as the element of other possible worlds, they all go on long sheets to recreate a pictorial reality that in its naturalness becomes surreal.
The space in which the figures are immersed is the emblem of a world that goes beyond reality. It represents a return to a mythical nature and primitive conditions bringing to the surface the appearance of brutal, deformed animals, but at the same time it shows a harmony of nature aware of its imperfections.
